Obaseki Appoints New Chief Of Staff

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has appointed a new chief of staff, following the resignation of Taiwo Akerele.

Mr Akerele, in a letter dated April 25, cited administrative and governance reasons for his decision.

However, a statement from Mr Obaseki’s spokesperson, Crusoe Osagie, on Saturday night, said Osaze Uzamere has been appointed as the new chief of staff with immediate effect.

Mr Uzamere is the son of a former senator, Ehigie Uzamere, who represented Edo South Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011.

The 38-year-old has been an investment banker after graduating from the Stony Brook University, New York, where he majored in Computer and Electrical Engineering.

The new chief of staff had worked at Lehman Brothers and South Grade Engineering, among others.

Before his latest appointment, Uzamere had also worked as an executive assistant to Obaseki.

Akerele’s resignation is believed to be connected to the lingering crisis between Obaseki and the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole
