Renowned Ghanaian radio and television personality Merqury Quaye has lashed out at artiste managers in Ghana.
According to him, most Ghanaian artiste managers are nothing but mere errand boys.
The debate as to the role of an artiste manager has dominated discussions in Ghana in recent years.
Industry players like Mark Okraku Mantey and Nhyiraba Kojo have all questioned the prominence of artiste managers and called them literal puppets and errand boys.
Merqury, speaking to Homebase TV in an interview explained that most artiste managers are errand boys because they only facilitate things for artistes but that isn’t management.
He added that artiste management involves actually directing, shaping and building someone.
The host of Cruise Control on Hitz 103 9 FM stated that for someone to be qualified as an artiste manager, he should be the mastermind behind everything the artiste does.
He, however, stated without mincing words that the only management he identifies with in the industry are Lynx Entertainment owned by Richie Mensah and Bullet’s Rufftown Records.
